we want to connect people with new places.
Let’s talk about new opportunities to live your best life.
concept.
cotu is a collection of dwellings for the purposes of giving people an alternative to traditional construction for vacation, resort, or hospitality properties.
The concept is to use these dwellings in tandem to create a tailored experience to a specific client and site. This experience is intended to afford the users a balance to their everyday life, a place that allows experiences in contrast to those from their typical home.
design.
cotu was designed by Jeff Klymson of the award winning architecture and design practice Collective Office as a passion project to research the idea of wellness through a balanced life using the lens and tools of architecture and design as the solution. The product uses CLT (cross-laminated timber) panels as the primary structure and interior finishes. This allows cotu to be very warm and natural, durable and long-lasting. Wood is a very human material for us, best used where protected from the natural elements perfect for an interior finish.
life should be balanced.
balanced life.
We live in cities, or suburbs, or exurbs and rural areas. However, we are more and more connected. Traveling constantly in our daily routines, working, going to school - all trying to live our best lives. The pace of the world is increasing and so is dependence on our devices. The social aspects of life have evolved and continue to do so — away from from in-person interaction.
We believe that in-person human interaction coupled with change of place affords us a more balanced life. With cotu, our ideal solution is 3 levels of experience: a home base; a close place (within 2hrs); and a far place (within 6-8hrs). cotu has been designed in a manner to allow combinations of dwellings that respond individually to this concept.
